Palm oil is found in up to 50% of products you may purchase at the grocery store, including peanut butter, popcorn, and candy! Unfortunately, palm oil grows best in the same areas that rainforests do. This means that as the demand for palm oil increases, more rainforests are cut down to create room to grow palm fruit trees. Animals like tigers, jaguars and orangutans need these rainforests to survive, and deforestation is a leading cause of endangerment for these species. An easy way to help out all rainforest critters is to try reducing the amount of palm oil that you consume!

With Halloween right around the corner, consider purchasing candy without palm oil ingredients! Americans purchase 600 million pounds of candy every year for Halloween, so this switch can definitely make a huge impact! Since palm oil can be listed as hundreds of different names, we’ve created a list to help give you some ideas for rainforest-friendly candies!
